The drive No.2
The record player, proudly named "Das Laufwerk No. 2," occupies a magnificent position at the top of Scheu's product range. Its performance significantly surpasses the previous top model , the "Premier," and it has received extremely positive reviews from the enthusiastic trade press and highly satisfied customers worldwide.
With an impressive total weight of approximately 38 kg, this turntable is also a mass-driven turntable, but a completely different design approach was consistently implemented here.
By omitting the lead shot chamber of its famous predecessor, Drive No. 1, and combining the two halves of the frame, a very compact drive of simple elegance was created. Since lead shot could no longer be used to reduce resonance, other solutions had to be found. By combining various materials such as multi-layered bonded acrylic, steel, and bronze, extremely effective alternating resonance dissipation and damping was achieved.
The turntable has bases for three tonearms and features an electronically commutated DC motor with fine speed control, an 80-inch turntable, and height-adjustable stainless steel spikes.
With Drive No. 2, music becomes a sequence of stirring elements that go straight to legend.

The sound
A description of sound is naturally always subjective. During the development phase, we used the "Premier" as a reference. Its already first-class performance is significantly surpassed in terms of sound by the Das Laufwerk No. 2.
Details are reproduced with the utmost fidelity. The bass is powerful and contoured, the fundamental tone natural and without thickening. The room is reproduced with great precision in both width and depth, and everything is rock-solid in its place. The high-frequency range is not exaggerated; cymbals, for example, resonate long and cleanly. Despite the very fine resolution, the musical flow is never lost. And the No. 2 drive consistently impresses with particularly dynamic, flawless reproduction.
This high-performance device appeals equally to both the connoisseur who wants to devote himself exclusively to music and the ambitious audiophile who wants to rediscover their turntable every day. It provides an excellent foundation and allows ample scope for individualized adaptation to one's ideal of music reproduction.
